Most airlines will take your dog. In the hold.
In-cabin is a different conversation — shorter, and for most carriers operating out of Singapore, it ends before you've finished asking. Singapore Airlines doesn't allow pets in-cabin. Scoot doesn't. Jetstar doesn't. Qatar, Emirates, British Airways, Cathay Pacific, ANA, JAL, EVA, China Airlines, Malaysia Airlines — none of them.
The airlines that do allow dogs in the cabin are all foreign carriers routing through hubs elsewhere. There is no direct Singapore-based in-cabin option.
The weight limit is only half the problem
Every airline publishes a combined weight limit — pet plus carrier. For most in-cabin carriers on Singapore routes, that limit is 8kg. But the weight limit is only half the equation. The other half is what fits under the seat in front of you.
Lufthansa is the one carrier whose policy explicitly addresses this: if the carrier doesn't fit under the seat, it's permitted in an overhead bin or coat closet. Air France and KLM offer no equivalent fallback. That distinction is worth more than a 1kg difference in weight limit.
The carriers
Safe buffer (8–9kg): Lufthansa and SWISS share the most generous carrier dimensions — 55×40×23cm. Finnair matches them. Air France and KLM sit at 8kg with a tighter carrier envelope (46×28×24cm). KLM does not allow in-cabin pets on the B787-9, B787-10, or A321neo — check the actual aircraft on your specific route.
Etihad is the only Middle Eastern carrier with in-cabin options at 8kg in Economy. Routes and minimum age (16 weeks) apply. Verify your specific SIN route before booking.
Korean LCCs: Jeju Air and T'way Air offer 9kg — the highest available. Jeju Air requires a rigid carrier. T'way doesn't allow onward transits beyond Seoul.
US carriers (United, Delta): No numeric weight limit — your dog must be able to stand, turn, and lie down naturally. Only relevant if your journey routes through a US connection.
Danger zone (7kg): Korean Air and Asiana. For any setup close to this ceiling, the margin is very small.
Three things to verify before you book
Aircraft type on your specific route. Not the aircraft the airline generally uses — the aircraft operating your specific flight on your specific date. This matters most for KLM.
Pet space availability. Most flights cap at two to three in-cabin pets. Book simultaneously with your own ticket. On peak-season flights, space may already be gone.
Route inclusion. Some carriers list in-cabin permissions globally but exclude specific routes. The SIN route needs explicit confirmation.
The transit airport matters too
Helsinki has a well-signposted pet relief area. CDG has areas landside at T2F and airside at T2E. Frankfurt's Animal Lounge is cargo-only — no in-cabin pet relief for transit passengers. Schiphol has no official dog relief area. Look this up before you book, not after.
